NEW DELHI: The street transport ministry has advised state and UT governments to not drive operators of automobiles beneath vacationer allow or contract carriage to deploy conductors with legitimate licence. The transfer will deliver big aid to the operators from harassment.
The ministry issued the communication to the states and UTs citing a provision within the Central Motor Car Act stating {that a} conductor just isn’t obligatory for vacationer automobiles and contract carriage automobiles.
“It’s pertinent to say that the conductor is principally required for amassing fares from passengers, regulating their entrance and exit,” the letter stated.
A number of the vacationer bus operators stated such modifications are required to finish discriminatory actions by officers from state transport departments.
“There isn’t a want for conductors in such automobiles. However the state transport division officers would situation challans and impose fines citing there is no such thing as a conductor in such automobiles with legitimate licence.
